Report Finds Public Charter Schools Helping Students in Several Areas
Students in poverty attending public charter schools have better academic growth results than similar students in traditional public schools, according to Multiple Choice: Charter School Performance in 16 States, a new report released today from the Center for Research on Education Outcomes (CREDO). In addition, the report finds that English Language learners realize significantly better learning gains in public charter schools than their peers in traditional public schools, and charter students in elementary and middle school grades have significantly higher rates of learning than similar traditional public school students.

Nobel Learning Communities, Inc. Orange Catholic Foundation, Diocese of Orange Grant $1.6 Million to OC Catholic Schools
At the direction of Bishop Tod D. Brown, the Orange Catholic Foundation (OCF) has allocated grants totaling $1,142,000 to be distributed to 25 Catholic Elementary Schools to help boost their enrollment for the 2009-2010 academic year. The average cost of tuition for Catholic elementary schools in the Diocese of Orange is $4,750 per student. All funds will be offered to families to offset the cost of tuition so they can give the gift of quality Catholic school education to their children, at a time when public and private education institutions are facing budget challenges.
